Sagun (the Fungus)

This illustration is from my Kickstarter project to create drawings of all of the unique creatures of the underworld from Professor M.A.R. Barker's wonderful Tékumel (aka Empire of the Petal Throne) world setting.

"This creature is in reality a form of fungus developed by the ancients as a killer-guardian. Standing about eight feet tall, this pallid, convoluted, leafy-looking creature sways forward upon its mobile stalk to strike with woody-appearing claws. It also emits spores, and these are poisonous if breathed by an opponent."
