Shedra (the Eaters of the Dead)

This illustration is from my Kickstarter project to create drawings of all of the unique creatures of the underworld from Professor M.A.R. Barker's wonderful Tékumel (aka Empire of the Petal Throne) world setting. It is based on one of the professor's own drawings, graciously provided to me for visual reference by the Tékumel Foundation.

"These are flesh-eating undead. Grey and shrivelled almost beyond human form, they wander ceaselessly in the Underworld seeking food. They fight with steel swords, and a person slain by one of them will himself become a Shédra unless a Remove Curse spell is applied within two minutes. Once a victim has become a Shédra only a Wish spell or Divine Intervention will return him to living form."
